PATNA: Nitish Kumar parting ways with NDA to start a new innings as CM with RJD’s Tejashwi Prasad Yadav as his deputy is being seen by some as a move to potentially relaunch his career as a prime ministerial aspirant. Amid the political drama playing out in Patna, speculation was rife about whether Nitish would be content remaining CM or would challenge PM Narendra Modi as the opposition’s choice for the post in 2024.
Nitish laughed at the suggestion during a presser. “Chodiye na isab baat (leave such talk aside, please),” he said.
Tejashwi left it to Nitish to decide what he should do. “Nitish ji is the most mature and experienced CM in the country. Bihar has sent out a strong message to the country’s opposition that people want an alternative,” he said.
The question of Nitish’s perceived PM ambition arose after JD(U) parliamentary board chairman Upendra Kushwaha tweeted that the country was waiting for the CM to assume a new role. ” Move forward, Nitish ji, the country is waiting for you. The decision to walk out of NDA is not only in the interest of Bihar, but (also) the country,” he tweeted.
