NEW DELHI: With Delhi, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Telangana ahead on Covid-19 chart in the country, Union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan has directed the concerned states to increase the pace of vaccination, besides ensuring adherence to Covid-appropriate behaviour.
“The states should aim to increase the pace of vaccination for eligible populations, besides ensuring adherence to Covid-appropriate behaviour, following a five-fold strategy to combat the disease,” his letter to the concerned health secretaries mentioned.
Though India saw an overall decline in the number of active Covid-19 cases, Delhi added 701 more infections and Karnataka 336 in the tally in the last 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Saturday.
Overall the country reported 19,406 new infections in the last 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry.
With 19,928 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the number of active Covid-19 cases declined to 1,34,793 from previous day’s 1,35,364, said the Union health ministry.
