Disengagement began on 8th September following discussions at the 16th round of corps commander level where it was decided that both the sides would move back from their present positions and verify after that.
The disengagement process included dismantling of infrastructure built by both the neighbour countries. The previous locations from where they had disengaged included the Galwan area and the two banks of the Pangong lake in eastern Ladakh.
The aggression of the Chinese army began in May 2020 in an attempt to alter the status quo on the LAC. The friction points have now been resolved by both the sides.
