NEW DELHI: India registered new 8,582 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of coronavirus cases in the country to 4,32,22,017 on Sunday.
According to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday morning, India’s active cases increased to 44,513 from 40,370 recorded the previous day.
The active cases now comprise of 0.10 per cent of the total infections.
With four official deaths related to coronavirus reported in the last 24 hours, the country’s death toll climbed to 5,24,761, according to the ministry.
The four new fatalities include three from Kerala and one from Maharashtra. The case fatality rate was 1.21 per cent.
Consequently, 4,435 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking India’s recovery rate stand at 98.68%. The cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic is now at 4,26,52,743.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.71 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 2.02 per cent.
The last 24 hours saw a total of 3,16,179 Covid-19 tests being done in the country. So far, India has conducted 85,48,59,461 tests.
The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 195.07 crore.
