NEW DELHI: The Government of India Friday declared oneday state mourning on September 11 across India, as a mark of respect to the departed British monarch Queen Elizabeth II. The 96-year-old Queen passed away at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Thursday, and is succeeded by her eldest son, King Charles III.
In a message sent to all state chief secretaries and administrators of UTs, as well as secretaries to all governors and LGs, the home ministry said that on the day of the mourning, the national flag will be flown at half mast on buildings across India where it is flown regularly and that there will be no official entertainment.
