NEW DELHI: A man was allegedly beheaded by two men in Udaipur‘s Maldas on Tuesday. He had allegedly shared a social media post in support of Nupur Sharma a few days ago, said local media reports. The two men also posted a video boasting about the beheading and threatened PM Modi’s life as well.
“A heinous murder has been committed and a thorough investigation will be conducted into the incident. Few accused have been identified. Police teams constituted to locate the accused. We will take action on the video of men claiming to have committed the act,” said Udaipur Superintendent of Police.
CM appeals for peace
Meanwhile, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot tweeted to “condemn the heinous murder of a youth in Udaipur”. “It is a very sad incident. It is not a small incident, what has happened is beyond one’s imagination. The culprits will not be spared. Strict action will be taken against the criminals involved in this incident. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace and not share the video of the act.”
Gehlot’s appeal came as locals launched a protest and set fire to some vehicles. Shops in the Maldas street area have been closed following the incident.
“I appeal to all to maintain peace and law and order. The affected family will be provided help from the government. Stringent action will be taken against the accused, said the Udaipur Collector.
Failure of administration: BJP
Rajasthan LoP Gulab Chand Kataria said that they have talked to Gehlot who assured them that teams have been deployed to nab the accused.
“We’ve talked to CM. Those involved will be arrested and assistance will be given to the victim’s family. This incident isn’t possible due to single person, it could be because of some organisation. It’s horrendous and a failure of the administration,” Kataria said, adding: “The CM said that teams have been deployed, he himself has talked to the officials and further said that those who committed the incident will be arrested soon.”
