JAIPUR: A 40-year-old tailor, who had recently posted on social media in support of Nupur Sharma, was hacked to death inside his shop under Ghanta Ghar police station area in Udaipur Tuesday afternoon.
The gruesome murder of Kanhaiya Lal, sent shockwaves across Udaipur. Several markets were shut down and the protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.
A purported video of the chilling murder soon went viral, despite Rajasthan police appealing to people not to watch or share it. The video shows a man hacking the tailor with a sharp object, based on the video, police teams have fanned out in search of the suspects.
Additional DG (Law and Order), Hawa Singh Ghumaria said that mobile internet services have been suspended in Udaipur.
Till late evening, police were making attempts to take the victim’s body to the mortuary, but their attempts were thwarted by protestors.
Ghumaria said that two additional DG, and one DIG rank officer, has been moved to Udaipur to contain the situation.
