
MUMBAI: CBI investigating Rs 50 lakh illegal gratification case against Congress MP Karti Chidambaram, son of former union finance minister P Chidambaram, and raised nine premises in Mumbai, Chennai, Punjab, Odisha and Karnataka.
These premises include Karti’s home and residence and the offices of others involved in the case.
One of Karti’s tweets after the raid reads, “ I have lost count, how many times has it been? Must be a record.”
CBI alleged that Karti had helped a company for a power project in Punjab in exchange of illegal gratification between 2010-2014 when his father was union minister.
Earlier Karti faced CBI and ED investigations related with his involvement in alleged corruption and money laundering cases.
In one of the earlier cases, it was alleged that Karti had helped INX media to get clearance for receiving Rs 305 crore foreign fund when his father of the union finance minister. In 2018, the CBI had arrested him in the corruption case and subsequently, he was released on bail.
