  The cast for the much-anticipated (and long in development) prequel to 2001 heist pic ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ is coming together at some speed now, which is handy since the movie is gearing up to shoot soon.

Deadline reports that Monica Barbaro (‘A Complete Unknown’) has landed a lead role opposite Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper (the latter of whom is also writing and directing).

And via Variety, we also know that ‘Frozen’s Josh Gad will be part of the ensemble, joining ‘The Secret Agent’s Wagner Moura, who recently signed on.

What’s the story of the ‘Ocean’s Prequel’?

The script remains largely a secret, though the 1960s setting is confirmed and it’ll focus on a pair of thieves who target expensive earrings during a mansion event followed by a plot to steal precious diamond in Monte Carlo.

Seeking payback after something goes wrong, they recruit a team to sabotage a Monaco Grand Prix victory and swipe the gem.

Oh, and per Robbie at this year’s CinemaCon: “Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows …his parents.” So now you know who she and Cooper will play.

Barbaro and Gadd’s characters are, for now, an unknown quantity, while Moura is playing the antagonist.

When will the ‘Ocean’s’ prequel movie be on screens?

Warner Bros. has dated the movie for June 25, 2027, so the con will be on again before we know it.
