Teen sensation Tanvi Sharma continued her sparkling run on the BWF World Tour, defeating fellow Indian Shriyanshi Valishetty 21-16, 17-21, 21-13 to book her place in the women’s singles quarterfinals of the Korea Masters 2026 in Asan on Thursday. She will next face India’s Rakshitha Sree Ramraj, who beat Japan’s Manami Suizu 22-20, 21-10.
Fresh from scripting history as the youngest-ever Taipei Open Super 300 champion last week, the 17-year-old once again showcased her temperament, recovering from difficult moments to extend her winning streak and underline why she is one of India’s brightest badminton prospects ahead of this month’s BWF World Championships on home soil.
Tanvi had to work hard for the victory in an entertaining all-Indian contest. After falling behind early in the opening game, she gradually wrested back control with her sharp movement and aggressive strokeplay before reeling off crucial points to claim it 21-16.
Shriyanshi responded with remarkable resilience in the second game. She surged into an 11-6 lead at the mid-game interval and kept the pressure on with a series of attacking exchanges. Although Tanvi narrowed the gap midway through the game, Shriyanshi held her nerve to close it out 21-17 and force a decider.
The deciding game, however, belonged to Tanvi. Carrying the confidence of her recent title-winning run, she raised the intensity from the outset, opening up an early advantage and refusing to allow Shriyanshi back into the contest. The World No. 30 maintained her composure in the closing stages to seal the match 21-13.
