Sanya Vats finishes runner-up in Ballarat Open squash

Sanya Vats finished runner-up at the Ballarat Open squash, a USD 3000 PSA Challenger event in Victoria (Australia), on Sunday.

The second seed Indian went down 6-11, 8-11, 6-11 to top seed and local favourite Sarah Cardwell in the women’s final.

The Delhi girl earlier beat South Korean Ain Jun 11-5, 11-8, 11-4 in the semifinals after defeating another South Korean Sunghee Oh 6-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-4 in the quarterfinals.

Tripura government plans reception for CWG winner Asmita Dey

The Tripura government plans to accord a grand reception to Asmita Dey, who won a gold medal in Judo at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, during her two-day visit to the native state from Wednesday, an official said.

Director of Youth Affairs and Sports L Darlong told PTI that the event would be held at Rabindra Bhavan.

Dey has become the first-ever Indian judoka to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Chief Minister Manik Saha felicitated Asmita in New Delhi in the presence of Youth Affairs & Sports Minister Tinku Roy.

During her two-day visit to the state, she will visit her village — Dakshin Sonaichari in South Tripura’s Belonia subdivision.

“Asmita will pay respects to her father, who had inspired her to win a medal at a global event, at Dakshin Sonaichari. Our only dream is to see Asmita finish on the podium at the Olympics,” Munna Pathari Dey, the judoka’s mother, said.

Covelong Classic 2026: Kishore Kumar wins Men’s Open, Kamali Moorthy completes double

Kishore Kumar and Kamali Moorthy starred at the Covelong Classic, the fourth stop of the Surfing Federation of India National Surfing and SUP Series 2026, at Covelong Point in Tamil Nadu.

Kishore bounced back from a semifinal exit at the Point Break Challenge to win a tense Men’s Open final, edging Srikanth D by 0.67 points. Kishore finished with a combined score of 15.67, while Srikanth scored 15.00. Harish M took third with 8.17 and Sivaraj Babu finished fourth with 7.43.

The victory was Kishore’s second of the season after his earlier triumph in Mangalore, strengthening his position ahead of the final stop of the national series.

Kamali was the best performer in the women’s categories, completing a double by winning both the Women’s Open and Women’s Juniors 18 and Under titles. She scored 11.63 in the Open final to beat Sugar Shanti Banarse, who finished with 10.17.

Kamali then produced a dominant 16.17 in the junior final, finishing 8.07 points clear of second-placed Saanvi Hegde.

Tayin Arun claimed his first Men’s Juniors 18 & Under title of the season after two runner-up finishes earlier in the series. He defeated Harish P by just 0.03 points, scoring 11.73 to Harish’s 11.70.

The national series concludes with the Shore Temple Classic, a WSL QS 2000 and Pro Junior event, at Mahabalipuram from August 12 to 16. National rankings and WSL wildcard selections will be finalised at the event.

Eshanth, Rehan, Shiv and Rudrapratap claim wins in National Karting Championship Round 3

Chennai’s Eshanth Vengatesan was declared winner of the Senior Max final in the third round of the MECO FMSCI Indian National Karting Championship 2026 RMC India at the Madras International Karting Arena on Sunday.

The final produced plenty of drama as several front-runners were involved in a collision, allowing Eshanth of MSPORT to take victory. Pune’s Arjun Chheda finished second, while Bengaluru’s Rohaan Madesh took third.

Earlier, Krish Gupta, Kiaan Shah and Laksh Manish Bafna had completed a 1-2-3 finish for Rayo Racing in the Pre-Final.

In Junior Max, Rehan Khan Rasheed benefited from penalties to the leading finishers in both the Pre-Final and Final. Swarnav Das lost his Pre-Final victory after receiving a 10-second penalty, promoting Rehan to first place.

Rudrapratap Singh Shekhwat won a closely fought Micro Max final after holding off strong pressure. Aarav Sureka had earlier taken the Pre-Final after Rudrapratap was penalised.

The Mini Max final also changed after penalties. Jishnu Seralathan crossed the line first but lost the victory following a penalty, handing the win to Shiv Neel of MSPORT, son of former Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan.

Diksha stays in top-20 at London Championship

Diksha Dagar stayed inside the top-20 at the London Championship after a steady 1-over 72 in the third round, keeping alive her hopes of gaining further ground on the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit.

Diksha had 75-70 in the first two rounds and was T-22 but fell to T-19 with a 72 in the third, while Aditi Ashok after 71-73 was T-16 and she also fell to T-19 with a 73 at Centurion Club.

Pranavi Urs with 71-72 had risen to T-12, but she fell dramatically to T-38 after a card of 78 on the third day of the USD two million event.

Diksha can move up further in the Order of Merit with a good finish.

Harjai, Ishnidh to compete for boys’ title; Guntas, Rashi to battle for girls’ crown

Indian golfers will be tested when they tee off on two different courses across Scotland starting Monday for the R&A Amateur golf championship.

Harjai Milkha Singh and Ishnidh Singh Virdi will be competing for the boys’ title, while Guntas Kaur Sandhu and Rashi Mishra will battle it out for the girls’ crown.

The four-member team, sent by the Indian Golf Union (IGU), is being accompanied by managers Deepinder Singh Kullar and Saaniya Sharma. The tournament will be played for the first two rounds in strokeplay format after which 64 players will progress to the last two matchplay rounds.
