Orangutan, GodLike Esports become first-ever Indian teams to reach PMWC Grand Finals
Orangutan and GodLike Esports became the first-ever Indian teams to qualify for the PUBG Mobile World Cup (PMWC) Grand Finals taking place in Paris.
Orangutan finished second in Group A with 91 points, just 16 behind group leaders 4Thrives, while GodLike Esports finished third in Group B with 105 points and 73 finishes, the second-highest tally in their group. The Grand Finals will now take place from August 14 to 16, with the two Indian teams now set to compete for the PMWC title and a share of the $ 3 million (~INR 28.5 crore) prize pool.
Elsewhere, Kuaishou Gaming claimed the Honor of Kings World Cup, AG.AL’s M. Zubair completed a remarkable TEKKEN 8 run from the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) to become the first recipient of the Jafonso Award at EWC 2026, while OpTic Gaming secured back-to-back EWC titles in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

MCA invites bids for ninth T20 Mumbai League team
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has invited bids for the right to operate one new team in the prestigious T20 Mumbai League, paving the way for the men’s league to expand to a nine-team competition.
The new franchise is set to represent the Navi Mumbai region, further expanding the league’s reach and providing a platform for more cricketers from across Mumbai and its surrounding areas

HCA announces support staff for men’s teams
Hyderabad Cricket Association on Monday announced the support staff for the men’s state teams for the 2026-27 domestic season.
A. Ranjit Kumar has been named the trainer (S&C) for the senior men’s team, while K. Santosh Kumar will be the physiotherapist. E. Krishna Reddy and Syed Sajid Hussain will serve as the video analyst and masseur, respectively.

Karan Singh wins doubles title in ITF M15 Astana
India’s Karan Singh clinched the doubles title at the ITF Men’s World Tennis Tour M15 at the National Tennis Centre in Astana, Kazakhstan on Monday.
Partnering with Martin Borisiouk of Russia, the pair defeated the home pair of Danial Rakhmatullayev and Damir Zhalgasbay in straight sets, clinching a 6-3, 6-2 win to lift the title.
This is Karan’s sixth ITF career title and third in doubles. It was also his first at hard courts; his previous two title victories in doubles category at Tehran (2025) and Brazaville (2024) had come on clay surfaces.

Min Woo Lee joins elite field for DP World India Championship
The DP World Tour and PGA Tour winner from Australia, Min Woo Lee, has become the latest international star to join an elite field at the DP World India Championship, whose second edition is scheduled for October.
Lee will tee off alongside stars including defending champion Tommy Fleetwood, career Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy and 2026 Open champion Ryan Fox when the Delhi Golf Club hosts the event from October 15 to 18.
Lee, who represented Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympics and the International team at the 2024 Presidents Cup, said he was fascinated by the field at the DP World India Championship.
“I love playing all around the world and I’m excited to tee it up in India for the first time at the DP World India Championship.
“I heard a lot about last year’s tournament, and it’s shaping up to be another incredible field, so I’m looking forward to the whole experience both on and off the golf course,” he said.

Leading Indian golfers to participate in Coal India Open
Top golfers, including Order of Merit (OoM) leader Saptak Talwar, Veer Ahlawat, Om Prakash Chouhan, Khalin Joshi and defending champion Angad Cheema, will be seen in action in the Coal India Open starting at the par-70 Tollygunge Club course here on Tuesday.
The DP World Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) tournament, offering a total prize purse of ₹1 crore, will have a field of 132 players including one amateur and several foreign professionals.
Local golfers, such as former OoM champion Shankar Das, Rahil Gangjee, Viraj Madappa, Mohammad Sanju, Divyanshu Bajaj, Sunit Chowrasia, Feroz Ali Mollah, Indrajit Bhalotia and Karan Verma, will enjoy their outing in familiar conditions.
The winner will take home Rs. 15 lakh, while the runner-up will receive Rs. 10 lakh.

Pranavi Urs storms back into top 20 with bogey-free 66 in London
Pranavi Urs bounced back with a brilliant seven-under 66 in the final round of the PIF London Championship to finish tied 19th at the Centurion Club, while fellow Indian Aditi Ashok closed with a four-under 69 to claim tied 17th.
Hero-backed Pranavi had started the final round outside the top 30 after a disappointing 78 in the third round, but produced her best round of the week to climb 12 places. She finished at five-under 287 after rounds of 70, 73, 78 and 66.
The 66 was a timely reminder of Pranavi’s ability to score low. She had been tied 12th after the opening two rounds before her third-round stumble threatened to undo the good work.
However, she responded emphatically on Sunday, producing a bogey-free seven-under round to return to the top 20.

Jeev Singh finished T-7th at PGA Seniors in Scotland
Indian golf legend Jeev Milkha Singh finished a creditable tied 7th at the 2026 Staysure PGA Seniors Championship after carding two-under 70 in the final round here.
The 54-year-old, who won a title last season at the IGPL Colombo against players half his age and some even less, shot rounds of 76-71-69-70 to finish 2-under for the week.
South African Darren Fichardt, who lost in the play-off last year, put behind that setback to win the 2026 PGA Seniors by five shots at Trump International Golf Links, Aberdeen.

Rayhan Thomas finishes 71st on Korn Ferry Tour
Indian golfer Rayhan Thomas endured a tough week as he finished tied for 71st at the Pinnacle Bank Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour here.
Thomas had modest rounds of 68-71-72-72 for a 1-under total.
Rookie Mahanth Chirravuri closed the week with rounds of 65-68-71-68 for a 12-under total and was tied for 19th. It was the 22-year-old Indian-American’s best finish in eight starts on the Korn Ferry Tour.

India wins 17 medals at U-23 Commonwealth fencing Championship
India secured 17 medals, including four gold, at the U-23 Commonwealth Fencing Championship, dominating both the men’s and women’s individual events currently underway in Lagos, Nigeria.
India captured four gold, four silver, and nine bronze medals after the opening day of the event, which began on Sunday and will run until August 14.
The national squad displayed dominance across every discipline, ensuring at least one Indian fencer reached the podium in all six individual events across sabre, foil and epee, stated a release from the Fencing Association of India.
In the men’s sabre competition, India was led by Nikhil Wagh, who secured the gold medal. Lakshay Badser took silver, while Ashwini Arya and Laishram Moramba shared the bronze medals to complete an Indian clean sweep.
In the men’s foil, Tejas Patil captured silver and Hemash Sanasam took bronze. In the men’s epee, Lokesh Vemani brought home a silver, with Shaurya Ashwini and Godwin Anbkess earning bronze medals.
India’s women fencers were equally dominant. Joys Ashita won gold in the women’s foil ahead of teammate Kanaglakshmi, who earned silver. In the women’s epee, Prachi Lohan clinched the gold medal, supported by Nivedhya Nair and Anupriya, who both took bronze.
In the women’s sabre, Jeferlin claimed gold and Aakhari earned silver, while Shreya Gupta added a bronze medal to round out India’s medal tally.
