The India-Pakistan rivalry is widely billed as one of the biggest clashes in cricket but in recent times, the clash has been fairly one-sided in favour of the Women in Blue.
When Pakistan takes on India later tonight at the Dubai International Stadium in the Asia Cup, should the Fatima Sana-led side come out on top, it will be Pakistan’s first win over India in four years.
The last time Pakistan defeated India was in the 2022 Asian Cup, when Pakistan won by 13 runs
Such has been the extent of the dominance of the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side over its neighbours, that in all previous matches in T20Is, India has lost only thrice to Pakistan- its record stands at 14-3.
In the Asia Cup, India’s record is even more striking- in seven matches, India has won six times, while Pakistan has only a solitary victory, its 2022 win.
In the last meeting between the two sides at the recent T20 World Cup, India won by 64 runs in a heavily one-sided contest. Deepti Sharma was adjudged the player of the match for her five-wicket haul (5/10).
