Its been smooth sailing for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side, having won both its games but problems that need immediate rectifying still persist. 

Its middle order, which underfired at the T20 World Cup, has been pretty middling at the Asia Cup as well, to say the least. 

Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma have been doing a fine job at the top of the order, doing the heavy lifting, but excluding the openers, the rest of the batters have failed to make a noteworthy impression.

Against Thailand, Shefali smashed 64 off 36 balls before India collapsed from 108/2 to 137/9.

Against Thailand, Smriti led the way with a record-breaking century but batters number 4 to number 7 managed to produce a combined effort of just 24 off 27 balls.

Pratika Rawal, Jemimah Rodrigues’ replacement at number three, has failed to convert her starts to a big score, while Harmanpreet herself has been in shortage of runs.

The effects of the failures have not hurt the team so far, but against Pakistan, a far stronger opposition compared to Thailand and Hong Kong, India will need a complete batting effort to extend its dominance over its neighbours.
