India’s Yuki Bhambri lost in the opening round of the 2026 US Open on Saturday. With Bhambri’s exit, N. Sriram Balaji is the only Indian remaining at the final Grand Slam of the year.

Bhambri and his Kiwi partner Michael Venus lost to the American pair of Ryan Seggerman and Patrik Trihac 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3) on Court 11.

It was a disappointing result for the Indian, who made it to the semifinals of the US Open last year along with Venus.

It remains Bhambri’s best performance at a Grand Slam to date, narrowly missing out on reaching the final after losing to Neal Skupski and Joel Salisbury 7-6, 6-7, 4-6 in a close contest.

Balaji and his partner Evan King will next face Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Hugo Nys in the second round on Sunday.
