Pakistan qualified for the semifinal of the women’s cricket event at the Asian Games 2026 after defeating Thailand by three wickets in its quarterfinal clash at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on the outskirts of Nagoya.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh made it to the semifinal of the same event, after its quarterfinal against China.

In the last four, Pakistan will face the winner of the quarterfinal clash between Sri Lanka and Malaysia on Sunday.

Earlier, the contest was reduced to a 11-overs per-side game after rain played spoilsport.

Batting first, Thailand managed to score 91/4. Nannapat Koncharoenkai top-scored with 49 off 38 balls, while skipper Fatima Sana chipped in with two wickets for Pakistan.

In the chase, Pakistan got off to a steady start as openers Gull Feroza and Shawaal Zulfiqar stitched together a handy partnership worth 36 runs.

However, once the openers departed, wickets fell at regular intervals as the Thailand bowlers made merry.

Just when the game was hanging on a knife’s edge, Fatima, the best batter in the lineup, fell in the eighth over to leave Pakistan five wickets down and in a precarious position.

However, tailenders Tuba Hassan, along with Eman Naseer and Umm-e-Hani kept their cool to help Pakistan cross the line with two balls to spare.
