Asian Games 2026 Closing Ceremony Highlights: Nagoya celebrates ‘One Asia’; OCA flag handed to Doha ahead of 2030 Games

Doha 2030, with the theme ‘The Games We Live For’, is introduced as the closing ceremony begins to draw to a close.

Mention Qatar and one of the first sporting images that comes to mind is Lionel Messi lifting the FIFA World Cup with Argentina in 2022, completing his collection with the one major trophy that had eluded him. That moment features prominently in the highlight reel, alongside some of Qatar’s biggest sporting occasions across athletics and other disciplines.

From the AFC Asian Cup and World Championships to the feats of Mutaz Essa Barshim, Qatar looks back on its history of staging major international sporting events.

Jassim Al Kuwari, one of Qatar’s leading dressage riders, then enters the stadium on horseback and receives the OCA flag, a symbolic moment marking the handover of the Asian Games to the Middle East and the beginning of the journey towards Doha 2030.
