Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the fastest Indian to score 1000 IPL runs after scoring a half-century in IPL history against Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 2 match in Mullanpur on Friday.
Sooryavanshi reached the feat in 23 matches, taking just two more matches than Shaun Marsh, who currently holds the record for the fewest number of matches taken to score 1000 IPL runs.
Sooryavanshi is joint second on the list with West Indian Lendl Simmons, who also took the same number of matches to achieve the feat.
Its been a responsible innings from the teenager, not using his natural attacking instincts on a difficult surface to keep the runs flowing on a night when wickets kept falling at regular intervals from the other end.
