AAP to observe fast against Delhi CM Kejriwal’s arrest on April 7 | India News

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party members will gather at Jantar Mantar and stage a fast on April 7 to protest against the arrest of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, as announced by party leader Gopal Rai.
Rai, who also serves as a cabinet minister in the Kejriwal government, urged supporters to join in a nationwide fast against the arrest of the party’s national convener.
Rai emphasized that the arrest of key party figures appears to be a strategy to undermine the AAP’s influence. He encouraged individuals to observe the fast on April 7, offering flexibility in the choice of location – whether at home or in their respective cities.
On the scheduled day, various party representatives including Delhi government ministers, AAP MPs, MLAs, councillors and office-bearers will participate in the fasting demonstration at Jantar Mantar. The event is open to all, with invitations extended to student organizations, farmer bodies, traders and the public.
Arvind Kejriwal’s recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case linked to excise policy has sparked controversy. He has been remanded to judicial custody until April 15, with the Enforcement Directorate citing his alleged non-cooperation and the risk of influencing witnesses and tampering with evidence if released.
The decision to incarcerate Kejriwal in Tihar Jail was based on concerns regarding his perceived influence and potential to obstruct the ongoing investigation, as asserted by the ED.
