MUMBAI: The DGCA on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on Air India for not reporting two incidents of passenger misbehaviour on board its Paris to Delhi flight in December. Last week, the DGCA had fined AI Rs 30 lakh for the November 26 incident on its New York to Delhi flight.
“The incident of passenger misbehaviour which occurred on AI-142 flight came to the notice of DGCA wherein one passenger was caught smoking in the lavatory, was drunk and not adhering to crew instructions; and another passenger allegedly relieved himself on a vacant seat and blanket of fellow female passenger when she went to the lavatory,” said a DGCA statement.
A showcause notice was issued and AI submitted a reply on January 23. “Enforcement action in the form of financial penalty of Rs 10 lakh has been imposed on Air India for not reporting the incident to DGCA and delaying in referring the matter to its internal committee, which is a violation of applicable Civil Aviation Requirements,” DGCA said.
