NEW DELHI: Mocking BJP President J P Nadda for attacking Rahul Gandhi, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge Friday said the BJP never participated in the freedom struggle and instead sided with the British, adding that “anti-nationals” have no right to preach nationalism to the party that led the anti-colonial struggle.
Reacting to Nadda’s remark that Rahul Gandhi is part of “anti-India toolkit”, Kharge said, “They are anti-nationals from before. Even at the time of independence struggle, the BJP and its forebears did not participate in the movement to get freedom for the country. Those who are anti-nationals themselves are calling others anti-national.”
Kharge tweeted, “Modi himself has gone to six-seven countries and said on foreign soil that ‘people of India are asking what sin did we commit that we were born in India?’ Such a person is calling us anti-national?” Kharge said Modi should apologise for insulting the country and its citizens.
