MUMBAI: A 35-year-old man was arrested soon after a Chennai-Mumbai IndiGo flight landed at the international airport on Sunday night for creating a ruckus during the journey.
Darshan Parekh, a smalltime businessman in Mumbai, was allegedly drunk when he boarded at Chennai and was violent, abusive and not ready to follow safety instructions. At one point, he was hurling abuses and was not ready to sit while the flight took off.
“The crew initially thought of de-boarding Parekh but as the door was already locked, they decided to take action once the flight landed in Mumbai,” said a police officer of the Sahar police station. Parekh has been granted bail.
During questioning, Parekh claimed he was trying to sleep when the crew disturbed him. But crew members told the police that Parekh began creating a ruckus as the flight was about to take off. Matters got so bad, other flyers complained about the nuisance created by Parekh. “It was conveyed to captain Vishal Gandhi. Parekh was handed over to the police at around 11 pm,” said the police.
