Failing to get Shah audience, Karnataka neta says will fight as Ind | India News

BENGALURU: Former Karnataka deputy chief minister and senior BJP politician K S Eshwarappa declared that he will contest as an independent from Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency, after unsuccessful attempts to secure a meeting with Union home minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Eshwarappa had said Shah had spoken to him and that the home minister had summoned him to Delhi. However, on reaching Delhi, he was told by Shah’s office staff that the minister could not accommodate a meeting.
Interpreting the denial of appointment as tacit approval from the party brass to proceed with his poll ambitions, Eshwarappa told reporters, “By denying me an appointment, the party has made it amply clear that I have the blessings of Modi and Shah to fight against Raghavendra.” tnn
