HYDERABAD: A first-year intermediate student at a private residential college in Narsingi, located on the outskirts of Hyderabad, died by suicide on Tuesday due to alleged harassment by college staff. As per police, Nagula Sathwik (16) hanged himself inside a classroom at Sri Chaitanya Junior Kalasala around 10.30pm, report Srinath Vudali & Nirupa Vatyam.
Based on a complaint by his father Nagula Raja Prasad, police registered a criminal case against three people – vice-principal Acharya, admin principal Krishna Reddy and warden Naresh – under IPC Section 305 (abetment of suicide) and took one person into custody.
Sathwik’s parents and students demanded action against the staff and management. The parents alleged that staff didn’t even inform them about their son’s death, and they got to know about it through his friends.
