IIM-B to start complete online BBA Program from Sept 2024 | India News

BENGALURU: The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) will start its first three-year undergraduate (UG) program online, with the commencement of a BBA program in digital business and entrepreneurship in Sep 2024. Applications open on June 15.
The program is completely online and largely asynchronous (recorded content) mode and has an intake of 1000 students.
Anyone who has completed class 12 with 60 percent marks is eligible to apply for the test, which is similar to the CUET exam. The program is open to students pursuing a degree as well.
The entrance test will determine entry into the program and will consist of 60 marks to be answered in 90 minutes, focusing largely on data interpretation, numeracy, and literacy. Exam dates will be announced later.
To make the UG management course affordable and accessible, IIMB Director Rishikesh T Krishna told select media persons on Friday that the BBA Program is priced at Rs 1.5 lakh per year. It has multiple exit options as per the National Education Policy (NEP). Completion of one year will give students a certificate, two years a diploma, and three years a degree.
Each year will have 45 credits; the pedagogy and assessment will be a blend of mandated reading, regular ungraded assessments, live tutoring, open office hours, follow-ups if students discontinue learning, and physical proctored exams at multiple centers across the country. There will be structured interaction with professors, but that will be through office hours online. The three-year course can be completed in six years.
Suresh Bhagavatula, Professor, Entrepreneurship Area, IIMB, said that in the first two years, students will learn entrepreneurship, and in the third year, digital business.
With these skills, students can start their entrepreneurial journey, or work with startups and digital enterprises and contribute to their growth, or help traditional businesses embark on the digital journey.
While IIM will hold a proctored examination and certify that the students have completed the program from their institute, these students will not be part of its placement cell.
“There are no recruitment plans. The UG program is inspired by the data science program of IIT Madras, which creates a connection between the students and recruiters and not a structured placement process,” said Krishna.
IIMB is exploring a multi-language format for their online program.

Physical Campus Continues to Face Hurdles

The online program comes even as IIMB’s physical campus, which is meant to have a residential undergraduate program, faces infrastructural challenges. IIMB Director Rishikesh T Krishna said, “The residential UG program is in the pipeline, and it has infrastructural issues to sort out.”
