IND vs ENG T20 World Cup 2024: What if India vs England semi-final match gets washed out due to rain?

Rohit Sharma led team India will face off against Engalnd at the the Providence Stadium in Guyana for the 2nd semi-final encounter of T20 World Cup 2024. South Africa have already secured a berth for the T20 World Cup final and the team winning the clash between India and England will join them in Barbados on June 29. 

However, ahead of the World Cup semi-final, rains lashed for 12 straight hours in Guyana on Wednesday and the thunderstorms are expected to play spoilsport during the clash between India and England on Thursday.

Moreover, ICC has confirmed that unlike the first semi-final, there is no reserve day alloted for completition of play but an additional 250 minutes of time has been alloted to get a result. Meaning that the second finalist for T20 World Cup has to be decided today in any circumstance. 

What happens if India vs England semi-final match is washed out due to rain? 

As per ICC’s playing conditions for the T20 World Cup 2024, in case the semi-final clash does get washed out the team finishing higher in their respective Super 8 Group will progress through to the final. In this case, the Men in Blue will have a clear advantage and will progress to the final in case of a washout. 

Notably, India had finished on the first place in their Super 8 Group after defeating Afghanistan, Australia and Bangladesh respectively. England, on the other hand, were second on their group ranking after winning 2 out of there 3 matches.
