PATNA: Ahead of the non BJP leaders meeting at chief minister Nitish Kumar’s residence on Friday afternoon, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national president Lalu Prasad met Nitish on Wednesday evening and held a long closed door meeting. Lalu had himself gone to Nitish’s residence and the meeting continued for at least 45 minutes.
Lalu is presently staying at the 10, Circular Road Bungalow, official residence alloted to his wife and former CM Rabri Devi. Interestingly, both Lalu’s and Nitish’s backyard are opposite one another. Apart from the high-level discussion, the preparation for the meeting is also going on a war footing and several leaders are expected to reach Patna on Thursday itself.
Amongst the leaders who are likely to reach Patna on Thursday are West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti. Kejriwal is expected to be accompanied by Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and the duo will go to Patna Sahib Gurudwara. “Some of the leaders may also go to the 10, Circular Road Bungalow to meet Lalu Ji,” said a source.
Large number of other leaders will reach Patna on Friday, including Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjn Kharge and KC Venugopal. Former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aaditya Thackeray will also be coming on Friday morning and returning the same day. Sources said these leaders will be staying at the state guest house and hotel Chanakya.
Meanwhile, deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav lashed out at the BJP ahead of the big meeting. Tejashwi, who had landed at Patna airport on Wednesday evening after attending an event in Tamil Nadu, followed by a family function in Haryana said the meeting in Bihar, is indicating that a big change will take place. When told about BJP’s slogan that Modi will make a comeback, he said, “No one has a permanent position in politics and government, just like in life. One who is born has to die. No one comes after consuming Amrit.”
