Nijjar: Canada-based Khalistani activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar shot dead, assailants held | India News

JALANDHAR: Canada-based prominent Khalistani activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey on Monday. He was the president of the gurdwara.
It is learnt that Nijjar was at the entrance of the gurdwara, which is on the hind side of the complex, when shooters sprayed bullets on him. He died on the spot.

The incident took place at around 8.20pm, local time.

The assailants were nabbed by the police about half a kilometre from the crime scene.
Nijjar hailed from village Bhar Singh Pura of Jalandhar district in Punjab. He worked as a plumber.
Nijjar was declared ‘individual terrorist’ by Government of India under UAPA after police accused him of involvement in terror activities.
