LUCKNOW: BSP national president Mayawati, among the prominent non-BJP faces not invited to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s “unity” conclave in Patna on Friday, predicted on the eve of the meeting that it would end up being a case of “dil mile na mile, haath milate rahiye (whether hearts meet or not, let’s keep the handshakes going)”.
In a series of tweets in Hindi, the former UP CM said it would have been better if these parties, including Congress, SP and AAP, tried to instil confidence in the people with clear intentions.
“How long will ‘muh me Ram bagal me chhuri’ last?” Mayawati said, using the Hindi idiom to allege that the nonBJP parties attending the conclave were indulging in cloakand-dagger politics. “It might have been worth it had these parties worked on their intentions before getting into an effort like this. ” JD(U)’s spokesperson K C Tyagi said BSP wasn’t invited to the meet because the party wasn’t keen to be part of an alliance against BJP.
