JAMMU: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said the Centre blocking the controversial BBC documentary on PM Narendra Modi “can’t suppress the truth from coming out”.
“Truth shines bright. It has a nasty habit of coming out. So, no amount of banning, oppression and frightening people is going to stop the truth from coming out,” he said on the sidelines of his Bharat Jodo Yatra in J&K.
The Centre has asked YouTube and other platforms to block “India: The Modi Question”, terming it “a propaganda piece” bereft of objectivity and reflecting “a colonial mindset”.
Rahul referred to the “scriptures” to drive home his point that what the documentary seeks to convey couldn’t be blacked out. “If you read the Bhagavad Gita or the Upanishads, you will see it is written that the truth cannot be hidden…You can ban, you can suppress the press, you can control the institutions, you can use CBI, ED, all the stuff, but the truth is the truth,” he said.
