‘Will bring ‘karza maafi’ commission’: Rahul Gandhi promise on farmers’ loans | India News

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday announced that the INDIA bloc will waive off farmers’ loans and bring ‘karza maafi’ commission (loan waiver), once it comes to power.
Addressing a rally in Haryana’s Mahendragarh, former Congress chief said, “On June 4, when we come to power, we will waive off farmers’ loans.”
“As far as farm loan waiver is concerned, we will bring a ‘karza maafi’ commission,” he added.
The Congress leader further accused PM Modi of waiving the loans of 22 rich people.
“Loans were waived off during the United Progressive Alliance, and Modi ji has waived off the loans of 22 rich people. This is an insult to the farmers,” he said.
Slamming the BJP government over the Agniveer scheme, Gandhi said that the INDIA bloc government will throw the scheme in dustbin as soon as it comes to power.
“This is Modi’s and not the Army’s scheme, the Army does not want it. When the INDIA bloc forms government, we will throw the Agniveer scheme into dustbin,” he said.
India’s borders, he said, are secured by the country’s youth and “there is patriotism in the DNA of our youth”.
“Modi has turned Hindustan ke jawan into labourers,” he alleged.
The Centre in 2022 rolled out the Agnipath recruitment scheme for short-term induction of personnel into the armed forces with an aim to bring down the age profile of the three services.
The scheme provides for recruiting youngsters in the age bracket of 17 years and a half to 21 years for a four-year period with a provision to retain 25 per cent of them for 15 years.
