Mostafa Ziko scored the second goal for Egypt against Argentina in the 58th minute but had it ruled by the referee during their Round of 16 match in Atlanta on Tuesday.
The reason for the goal being ruled out was that Marwan Ateya had stamped on Lisandro Martinez during the build up to the goal.
The foul won Egypt the ball from where Haissem Hassan went on a run through the right wing before opening up a defence piercing pass to Ziko.
The Egypt forward was one-on-one against Emiliano Martinez and chipped over the Argentinian goalkeeper to calmy convert the chance.
However, the referee, Francois Letexier, was told by the Video Assistant Referee to check the play at the on-ground monitor, and he eventually reversed the decision.
Ziko was not to be denied a second time as just six minutes later he struck again on a counter attack and got Egypt the two-goal lead.
