IND vs SL, 1st Test: Dhruv Jurel walks off the field after injury at short leg

Dhruv Jurel was forced to walk off the field after getting hit while fielding during Day 3 of the first Test between Sri Lanka and India at Galle on Tuesday.

The incident took place in the 28th over when first innings centurion Sonal Dinusha swept Manav Suthar’s delivery straight to Jurel at short leg.

The 25-year-old stayed on the ground and held his left foot in pain, prompting the physios to come out and check if he was okay.

Subsequently, Jurel limped off the field, and Sarfaraz Khan was brought in as the substitute fielder.

India, already in the middle of an injury crisis, will be hoping Jurel’s injury is nothing too serious and he will be available for the second Test starting on August 23.

The Men in Blue are currently in control in the first Test, with Sri Lanka four wickets down in its pursuit of 371.
