East Bengal beats SC Delhi on penalties to reach Durand Cup 2026 final, remains in hunt for 17th title

East Bengal defeated Sporting Club Delhi 5-3 on penalties at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata to reach the Durand Cup 2026 final after the semifinal had finished 0-0 after regulation time on Wednesday.

Juan Pena’s spot kick, Delhi’s first of the shootout, was saved by East Bengal goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Gill. That turned out to be the decisive moment as the Red and Gold Brigade put all of its five shots in the back of the net.

East Bengal will next face the winner of the second semifinal between arch-rival Mohun Bagan Super Giant and defending champion NorthEast United FC.

The Indian Super League champion is in search of a record-equalling 17th Durand Cup title, and its first since 2004. Mohun Bagan currently is the most successful side in the tournament’s history with 17 titles.
