Neeraj Chopra will not compete at the Zurich Diamond League on August 27, despite the men’s javelin being part of the programme. The official Zurich entry list does not include Neeraj.

Neeraj has made two Diamond League appearances in 2026. He finished fourth in Doha with 85.69m on June 19 before producing a season-best 88.05m for second place in Lausanne on August 21. His 88.05m is also his best throw of the season. He has also competed at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, winning silver with 85.83m.

The Lausanne result moved Neeraj to fifth in the 2026 Diamond League javelin standings with 12 points. The standings are led by Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage on 31 points, followed by Anderson Peters, Curtis Thompson and Keshorn Walcott.

Neeraj’s place in the Diamond League Final in Brussels on September 4-5 is not yet officially secured. The top six in each field event qualify, and Zurich is the final opportunity for javelin throwers to collect points. Neeraj is currently inside the qualifying positions, but athletes behind him can still overtake him in Zurich.

His absence means will have to wait for the Zurich results to know whether his 12 points are enough to take him to Brussels.
