Sri Lanka’s hopes hang by a thread on Day 5 of the second Test against India in Colombo, but Sonal Dinusha has kept the Island nation alive with a fighting half-century in just his fourth Test.
The left-hander has arguably been Sri Lanka’s standout performer in the ongoing series, scoring four consecutive half-centuries, including his maiden Test century, an unbeaten 100 off 168 balls, in the first Test in Galle.
The 25-year-old made his Test debut against Bangladesh on June 25, 2025, and has since scored 370 runs in seven innings at an average of 61.66.
Dinusha is yet to feature in an ODI or T20I, but given his performances in the longest format, a call-up to Sri Lanka’s white-ball sides could be around the corner.
The middle-order batter’s First-Class record is equally impressive. In 69 matches, Dinusha has scored 3,882 runs at an average of 46.21, including 12 centuries and 20 half-centuries.
Sri Lanka will be hoping Dinusha can convert his half-century into another hundred and help push the match towards a draw.
