Antigua and Barbuda Falcons 173 for 2 (Jangoo 57*, Nawaz 47*, Lewis 38, Lawes 1-32) beat Jamaica Kingsmen 170 for 9 (Sadaqat 114, Moqim 4-14, Joseph 2-27) by eight wickets
Sadaqat’s innings, featuring nine sixes and eight fours, accounted for over 50% of the Kingsmen’s total with the others failing to step up. Saim Ayub’s 29 was their only other double-digit score, with three of their top six dismissed for ducks.
Yet, for much of Sadaqat’s stay, Kingsmen appeared set for considerably more than 170. Jayden Seales had Kirk McKenzie caught for a four-ball duck in the opening over and Keacy Carty fell for 9 in the fourth, but Sadaqat and Ayub responded with an 80-run third-wicket stand. With Sadaqat doing most of the damage, they surged from 30 for 2 to 110 for 2, with the scoring rate hovering at around ten an over.
Then Moqim ripped the innings open. He struck twice in the 12th over, having Ayub caught attempting to slog to the on side, before Rovman Powell cut to backward point for a duck, and Kingsmen tumbled from 110 for 2 to 113 for 6 in the space of three overs. Sadaqat continued attacking at the other end till he was dismissed off the penultimate ball of the innings, but with the middle order falling around him, Kingsmen never regained their earlier momentum and finished on what proved to be an under-par 170 for 9.
Rahkeem Cornwall immediately made that total look even smaller. He took two fours and two sixes off Ayub in a 20-run opening over before being bowled off its final delivery. His brief assault had already knocked a chunk off the asking rate, and Evin Lewis and Jangoo made sure the Falcons did not lose that advantage.
Their 64-run second-wicket partnership put the chase firmly under control. By the time Vitel Lawes removed Lewis for 38, Falcons had already knocked off nearly half their target with more than 12 overs remaining.
Jangoo and Nawaz then shut Kingsmen out of the contest. They combined for seven fours and six sixes in their stand, with Jangoo finishing on 57 not out and Nawaz on 47 not out.
The result was effectively beyond doubt with four overs remaining, before Nawaz provided the finishing flourish with two sixes in the 17th over.
Shadab Khan, the Falcons allrounder, was declared the tournament MVP for his 132 runs and 11 wickets.
