CPL 2026 – Mehidy Hasan Miraz set for CPL debut after being signed by Guyana Amazon Warriors | ACTPnews

Nepal's fans were in high spirits at the Wankhede, England vs Nepal, T20 World Cup, Mumbai, February 8, 2026

Both Nabi and Gurbaz will leave CPL 2026, after their league game against Antigua & Barbuda Falcons on September 8, to link up with the Afghanistan national team for their upcoming three-match T20I series in India from September 13. After not featuring in Afghanistan’s recent ODI series against Ireland, which they won 4-0, for his CPL commitments, Nabi has now made himself available for the India series.

It’s understood that Mehidy and Haris will be available for selection from September 9.

Nabi, in particular, has been central to Amazon Warriors’ success in the Global Super League (GSL) and the ongoing CPL – the team has won ten of their 11 games across the two competitions. Nabi leaves the CPL as the highest wicket-taker among spinners, with 12 strikes in six innings at an economy rate of under six.

Four of those wickets came against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Providence on Sunday, helping seal Amazon Warriors’ spot in the playoffs.

“Maybe now and then we lose a bit of grip but anyone can come and be a hero. That’s been the story so far in our group. Like I said before, we enjoy each other’s success”

Imran Tahir, the Guyana Amazon Warriors captain, on his team’s success at CPL 2026 so far

Amazon Warriors’ captain Imran Tahir hailed Nabi’s all-round efforts and said that the team would miss him. “He’s been an absolute legend,” Tahir said of Nabi after the win against Patriots. “He’s one of the best offspinners in world cricket at the moment and that’s the reason we got him. He can bat and is a really good slip fielder. He’s also been good with us, sharing his knowledge and the way he’s been bowling has been brilliant. From GSL till now, his lengths are so good and he never missed anything in any game. We’re really going to miss him.”

Gurbaz had also been important to Amazon Warriors’ strong run, scoring 93 runs in his two innings this season, scoring 54 in 35 balls against Jamaica Kingsmen and 39 in 25 balls against Patriots.

Mehidy is not part of Bangladesh’s T20I squad for the upcoming Asian Games in Japan and will be available to Amazon Warriors for the rest of the CPL season. Mehidy had a taste of the CPL in 2017, when he was picked by Trinbago Knight Riders as a replacement player, but he is yet to play a game in the league.

Haris is a more familiar face at Amazon Warriors, having turned out for them in the GSL in July-August this year.

Amazon Warriors also have the option of bringing Glenn Phillips back to the XI in place of Gurbaz and have Shai Hope keep wicket. Local Guyana batter Matthew Nandu is also in the squad as a reserve opener, if Amazon Warriors prefer a left-hand batter at the top.

Though Amazon Warriors have already qualified for the playoffs, their captain Tahir has warned them against complacency.

“Just really proud of the boys, we’ve been playing really good cricket in all the departments,” he said. “Maybe now and then we lose a bit of grip but anyone can come and be a hero. That’s been the story so far in our group. Like I said before, we enjoy each other’s success.

“When we go and do our work, we do it sincerely; we’re representing this beautiful franchise. We’ve been looked after really well and fans come and support us from all over the world. We’re nicely sitting on top [of the table], but we’re not taking things for granted.”

St Lucia Kings, meanwhile, have brought in Kemol Savory as a replacement player. Savory, 29, is uncapped in the CPL and will slot into the squad in place of Ackeem Auguste, who has been sidelined owing to medical reasons. Auguste had played only five games for Kings in CPL 2026.

“Ackeem’s health and well-being remain the team’s priority, and he will receive the necessary care and support during this period,” Kings said in a media release. “The St Lucia Kings wish Ackeem a full and speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back when he is medically cleared to return.”

Along with Nabi and Gurbaz, Mujeeb will also exit the CPL for the upcoming T20Is against India. AM Ghazanfar will replace Mujeeb at Tridents. Ghazanfar represented Falcons in CPL 2025.
