Harjinder Kaur won the silver medal in the women’s 69kg weightlifting competition at the Commonwealth Games 2026 after completing all six of her attempts for a combined total of 227kg in Glasgow on Tuesday.

The Indian began the snatch segment with a comfortable lift of 96kg before progressing to 99kg and 101kg, successfully completing each attempt. Her best effort left her second behind Canada’s Charlotte Simoneau, who led with 108kg.

Harjinder maintained her consistency in the clean and jerk, opening at 120kg before lifting 123kg and finishing with a successful 126kg effort. The Indian ended with a 101kg snatch and 126kg clean and jerk to secure silver.

Simoneau claimed gold with a Games-record total of 240kg, comprising 108kg in the snatch and 132kg in the clean and jerk. Australia’s Nya Phebe Hayman finished third with 218kg.

The result marked Harjinder’s second successive Commonwealth Games medal. She had won bronze in the women’s 71kg category at Birmingham 2022, before moving to the 69kg division for Glasgow.
