India fell out of medal contention in the women’s artistic gymnastics team event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow on Saturday, but Protistha Samanta kept alive the country’s hopes of reaching the vault final.

India completed its four rotations with an overall score of 123.000 and was fifth after subdivision three. Wales led the standings with 153.400, followed by Scotland (140.850), Singapore (140.100) and Malta (130.750).

The women’s team competition was a direct medal event and not a qualification round for a separate team final. The best three scores from each nation on every apparatus counted towards its overall total.

Samanta produced India’s standout performance, recording an average of 13.025 from her two vaults. She was third in the provisional vault standings after subdivision three, behind Welsh sisters Emily Roper (13.300) and Abigail Roper (13.275).

Pranati Nayak registered an average of 12.575 from her two attempts. At the time of writing, the veteran Indian gymnast was seventh in the standings, leaving her qualification hopes dependent on the results from the fourth and final subdivision.

The top eight gymnasts on each apparatus, with a maximum of two from one nation, advance to the individual final.
