Toss England win toss, bowl vs Ireland
England have won the toss and sent Ireland in to bat again in the second of their three ODIs, in Derby.
The hosts have made one change to their side, bringing in Ryana MacDonald-Gay for fellow seamer Lauren Filer. It will be MacDonald-Gay’s first match for England since the 2025 Ashes Test and comes after she suffered a back injury in the middle of last year.
Ireland have also made one change, replacing Arlene Kelly with fellow allrounder Georgina Dempsey.
England captain Charlie Dean called on her team at the toss to “be more clinical with the ball”. “It looks a good pitch but with a bit of moisture, hopefully it’ll do something early on,” she said.
Gaby Lewis – skipper and one of three Ireland batters to score fifty in Leicester, alongside Amy Hunter and Rebecca Stokell – said there were “positives” to build on from that match.
Play was set to begin on a green-looking pitch under overcast skies but with some bright sunshine poking through and a light breeze blowing across the ground doing little to reduce the humidity.
