Frenchman Arthur Fils on Tuesday announced that he has withdrawn from his nation’s Davis Cup match against Canada due to health concerns.
France is set to face Canada in the Davis Cup Qualifiers Round 2 from September 18 to 19 in Quebec City, but the 22-year-old will miss the tie, stating that he needs to be “cautious” with his fitness.
“After a physically challenging year and several periods of inactivity, I need to be cautious at the moment,” Fils posted on social media.

Fils, who suffered a shock first-round defeat at the US Open against Stefanos Tsitsipas, missed most of 2025 due to a lower-back stress fracture before returning to action in February 2026. He then won the Barcelona Open in April and secured his first ATP Masters 1000 title at the Cincinnati Open in August.
“Together with my team, we’ve decided to carry out a full assessment before resuming training and preparing for the rest of the season,” he said.
“Representing France means the world to me, so it’s never an easy decision to make,” Fils added..
