NEW DELHI: BJP’s Gorakhpur corporator Vishwajeet Tripathi had a heated verbal exchange with party colleague Ravi Kishan after he sought the administration’s accountability over knee-deep waterlogging in Gorakhpur, which Kishan represents in the Lok Sabha.When Tripathi confronted the Lok Sabha MP over inadequate flood preparations, Ravi Kishan, apparently irked by the question, asked if the corporator had “joined the Samajwadi Party”.Retorting to the actor-politician, Tripathi asked, “Have you joined BSP?”Tripathi also recorded the entire conversation on his phone. The video is now doing the rounds on social media.Heavy rains lashed several parts of Uttar Pradesh, triggering severe waterlogging, disrupting daily life and leaving at least four people dead in weather-related incidents.Gorakhpur was among the worst-affected areas, with continuous rainfall inundating several parts of the city. Ravi Kishan, however, inspected waterlogged areas and took stock of the situation.Gorakhpur district magistrate and collector Deepak Meena said four people had died in separate tree-collapse incidents across the district. Three of the deaths were reported from Campierganj, where a tree fell on a hut in which the victims had taken shelter.
