Their clash means NBA will have a different champion for the eight consecutive season.
How did the teams reach the Finals?
San Antonio Spurs toppled the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals with a remarkable turnaround from a 3-2 deficit.
For the Knicks, the path was straightforward. They swept Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals and are riding the high of a purple patch.
