The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday made an official complaint to English broadcaster Sky Sports for airing an interview with the sons of former captain Imran Khan during the first day of the second Test between England and Pakistan at Lord’s, according to news reports.

Imran’s sons, Kasim and Sulaiman, were interviewed by former England captain Michael Atherton for Sky Sports, during which they underlined the Pakistan government’s poor treatment of the former cricketer and Prime Minister in prison.

Local news outlets have reported that Imran has been incarcerated despite health complications, including loss of vision in one eye. The reports have added that the establishment does not allow Imran’s doctors to treat him despite being ordered to do so by the country’s Supreme Court.

Former captains of international cricket teams, which included Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, and Atherton among others, have twice appealed to the Pakistan government for the humane treatment of Imran.

The Guardian reported that PCB officials lobbied to not have the interview aired and later directed its players to not take the field after the Lunch break on the first day. The ECB, however, managed to convince them to carry on with the game.

The report added that the PCB then raised the complaint with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
