NEW DELHI: Congress leader and leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday invited students to join his ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ initiative in Indore on September 19, describing it as an opportunity for those “tormented” by the education system to collectively push for change.“I’m coming to Indore on 19 September — to meet students, to hear you, to talk to you. If you or your loved ones are tormented by the education system and want these conditions to change, you know – ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ is your collective voice, an opportunity to start the change,” Rae Bareli MP said in a post in Hindi on X.He urged students to register through the link shared in his post and join the event in large numbers.“We will discuss in detail every aspect of education and your struggles in Indore,” he said.
Rahul seeks students’ experiences
Former Congress president had last week said India’s education system was failing the generation it was meant to support and asked students, parents and teachers to share why they had lost hope in it.He said fixing the education system should begin by listening to those who experience its problems every day. Rahul had also asked students, parents and teachers to share their experiences, evidence and ideas through an online link.The Indore event will be the fifth edition of the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ initiative. Congress MP has previously held events in Kota, Dehradun, Prayagraj and Pune.The Pune edition, held on August 22, was focused on girl students.
