Thailand beat Hong Kong by six runs in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 opener at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday.
Despite losing opener Mariko Hill in the first over while chasing 121, Hong Kong seemed to be in the driving seat thanks to a 41-run partnership between Kary Chan and Yasmin Daswani.
However, Onnicha Kamchomphu dismissed both batters, ending with figures of 3/27, while Phannita Maya, Thipatcha Putthawong and Suleeporn Laomi also chipped in with the wickets.

Earlier, Thailand rode on skipper Naruemol Chaiwai’s 43 and Nannapat Koncharoenkai’s 27 to post 120 on the board.
Marina Lamplough was the pick of the bowlers for Hong Kong as she snapped up four wickets at the expense of just 11 runs, including two off consecutive deliveries in the final over of Thailand’s innings.
Next up, both sides face India in their second Group-A fixtures — Thailand on Sunday and Hong Kong on September 3.
