This weekend was something of a proving ground for one of the most established filmmakers in cinema as Steven Spielberg returned to popcorn blockbuster territory for Universal conspiracy thriller ‘Disclosure Day.’
The new movie may not rank up there with his best, but it opened to $44 million, and marks his as well as production company Amblin’s highest opening for an original title not based on any previous IP.

Release Date: Jun 12, 2026
Run Time: 2 hr 25 min
Budget: $115,000,000
Globally, it was a solid launch for the film, with $92.9 million around the world, riding strong (if mixed) reviews and a decent reception from audiences.

Beyond ‘Disclosure Day,’ Curry Barker’s ‘Obsession’ continues to be the big story, which in its fifth weekend on release, continues to do big business, surging into second place with $19 million.
There was less cheer for last week’s news releases as ‘Scary Movie’ and ‘Masters of the Universe’ both tumbled by more than 70% in their second weekend, though the former did do some business during the week.
