Norway scored the first goal of the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarterfinal against England in Miami on Saturday, with Andreas Schjelderup breaching the English defence.
Schjelderup was on the left side of the England penalty box in the 36th minute and he smashed the ball square. The attempt seemed like a cross aimed Erling Haaland in the middle but the ball creeped into the goal at the far post.
The 22-year-old plays for Portuguese side Benfica and scored 11 goals and assisted another six last season. For Norway, this was just his second goal in his 19th appearance.
However, Norwegian was also in the headlines last year for the wrong reasons. In November 2025, he was convicted for sharing a sexual video of a minor. He was given a two-week suspended jail sentence for the offence.
