Mexico’s Julián Quiñones scored the opening goal of FIFA World Cup 2026 against South Africa at Estadio Azteca on Thursday.
Quiñones, who plays his club football at Al Qadsiah in Saudi Pro League, scored in the ninth minute after a mistake at the back from South Africa.
Quiñones, 29, was the top-scorer in the recently-concluded Saudi Pro League with 33 goals.
The Colombian-born forward made his Mexico senior team debut in 2023 and has 23 caps to his name.
